2010 Summer Schedule
Vacation Time
No Lessons or Practicas - KATS is taking the rest of the
Summer off and will start lessons after Labor Day.
Sunday, August 15th, 8 - 11 pm
KATS Milonga at the Flynn Center, downtown Knoxville.
Plan on coming; bring a friend to socialize and dance Tango
all evening.
Fees: $15 for members; $20 for non-members.
Friday - Sunday, October 1 - 3
Special
Workshops at the Flynn Center, downtown Knoxville: Nelson
Avila and Madalyn Klein*
will conduct
workshops over the weekend. They will also have Monday,
October 4th available for private and semi-private lessons.
Workshop details to follow. Please save the dates, tell
everyone, and plan on attending this great event.

Members: $5
floor fee. Lessons are free.
Non-Members:
$5 floor fee. Lessons are $3 per person, per lesson.

*NELSON AVILA AND
MADALYN KLEIN
Nelson,
originally from Argentina has toured and performed all over
the world. He lives in New York with his wife/partner
Madalyn Klein --- they are in demand, performing and
teaching Tango. In addition, Nelson is scheduled to be a
judge in this summer's Tango Festival in New York City.
Nelson
Avila has been named a member of the National Academy of
Tango of Argentina and is recognized as an authority on
Tango. He was in the original cast of the world-renowned
Broadway show, "Tango Argentino" and recently completed an
international tour with the hit show "Forever Tango".
Nelson has
danced for Princess Diana, taught Robert Duval to Tango and,
in fact, was best man at his wedding. He also taught the
choreographer who taught Al Pacino to dance the Tango in the
movie "A Scent of a Woman".
Nelson also
appeared in and worked with Raul Julia in the movie "Tango
Bar". The Argentine government selected Nelson to
choreograph the Argentine presentation at "Expo Sevilla
1992", in Spain.
In 1993,
Nelson produced, choreographed and performed his show,
"Buenos Aires...Tango" in many cities, including the Lincoln
Center, in New York.
In the USA,
he has danced in more than 59 cities and is now scheduled to
dance and conduct a workshop in Knoxville, Tennessee. |
